Why GGAS? - Chairwoman's Welcome message
Nestled in the heart of the Phnom Phen Region, GGAS is an independent school for students JK to Grade 12, which insists the primary aim of education is the cultivation of human flourishing. When the Mrs Heng Sokunthea founded Golden Gate American School in 1994, She said the only true education is one that develops the threefold nature of the child, which she listed as the student’s moral, intellectual, and physical natures.
We continue to honour these aspirations from a different century by providing students from across Cambodia and around the world with a well-rounded, balanced education of the mind, body, and spirit. Whilst times may change and people may change, certain values have remained constant, including the belief in the intrinsic worth of the 'whole child.'

Founded in 1996, GGAS is an independent, nonsectarian, Pre-K through Twelfth Grade American School serving bright, highly motivated students. GGAS offers outstanding educational programs for your child.
Education has recently become a nationwide priority and is essential in preparing young people for career opportunities in the 21st century. GGAS is proud to offer an innovative program that allows students to earn an authentic USA-certitied high school diploma. Our teachers work in conjunction with an educational institution based in the USA. This constantly updated curriculum combined with our native English-speaking teachers ensures each student’s academic success.
GGAS is committed to giving students the necessary skills to continue their success beyond high school, whether they go on to study at a university or begin a promising career. We go above and beyond to assist our students as they progress through our programs, and we look forward to their graduation and future achievements!
